$10,000 in Donations up for Grabs to College Dance Marathons in the Campus Causes “Why I Dance” Contest

Students to submit videos on why they dance ‘For The Kids’

November 1, 2017 | Dance marathons have become an exciting and meaningful tradition for students at hundreds of colleges and universities — and an invaluable fundraiser for deserving nonprofits. Over the past four decades, dance marathons have raised more than $350 million for organizations dedicated to fighting and preventing childhood diseases.

Now, Campus Causes, the platform that enables students to raise money for their causes by shopping with popular brands online, is giving dance marathon organizations across the country a chance to win up to $5,000 in donations for the nonprofits they support.

Through a promotion called “Why I Dance,” Campus Causes is inviting dance marathon participants from across the U.S. to submit short videos explaining why they’re passionate about participating in dance marathons to raise awareness and funds “for the kids” — a phrase widely used by dance marathon organizers to succinctly explain why they do what they do.

Winners will be chosen by a combination of online voting and judging of the videos. One entrant will be named the grand prize winner and earn a $5,000 donation toward his or her Campus Causes dance marathon fundraising campaign to benefit either Four Diamonds at Penn State Children’s Hospital, a Children’s Miracle Network-affiliated hospital or the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation.

Five runners-up will each receive a $1,000 donation toward his or her Campus Causes campaign for their chosen dance marathon beneficiaries.

“All of us at Campus Causes are inspired by the students who pour their hearts and souls into dance marathons and all they do for the kids,” said Mark Marovich, director of Campus Causes. “We’re excited to have this opportunity to support them and to bring more awareness to the amazing work they do.”

Entrants can encourage their fellow students and social networks to vote for their videos using email, social media and other promotional channels. The contest will run from November 1, 2017 through January 8, 2018. Six finalists determined by popular vote will be announced January 10, 2018. A panel of judges will review entries from the six finalists to deem one Grand Prize Winner and five Runner-ups, who will be announced January 18, 2018. About Campus Causes
Campus Causes was launched by Newbridge Marketing Group in 2016 to provide student groups with an easy way to raise more money for their causes.  In addition to allowing online direct donations, our student members and their families and friends can shop over 200 brands to raise additional funds for their causes.  Our brand partners appreciate this opportunity to support good causes and give back to college communities as a thank you to the students. The site is a partnership with FlipGive, the leader in “Shop to Give” fundraising.
