December 21, 2015 – Since 2013, the More Than Just Me Foundation has raised funds to support cystic fibrosis research, as well as to assist children with pediatric cancer, homeless families and orphans. In the spirit of the holidays and in recognition of More Than Just Me’s inspiring work, Newbridge Marketing Group will donate a percentage of the 2015 operating profits from Newbridge LIVE!, its experiential marketing division, to the foundation.
“Throughout the year, all of us at Newbridge are inspired by the remarkable dedication of the More Than Just Me Foundation staff and the stories of the people they support and inspire,” said Steve Schubert, Partner and Co-Founder of Newbridge Marketing Group. “We’re honored to play a small role in supporting MTJMe’s mission to make a real difference in the world and to ‘Be bigger than yourself.’”
More Than Just Me was founded by Tommy Danger, who currently serves as the foundation’s CEO and is also Newbridge’s staffing manager.
One of the ways Danger raises awareness for the foundation’s beneficiaries is through his effort — already well underway — to climb the tallest mountain on each of the seven continents. To date, Danger and a few friends, including Mark Nolan, the managing director of Newbridge LIVE!, have climbed four of the Seven Summits: Mt. Kilimanjaro, Mt. Elbrus, Mt. Aconcagua and Denali. They’re currently planning to scale Carstensz Pyramid in Indonesia next, possibly in early 2016.
“The fact that Newbridge LIVE! is donating to support our work is awesome,” Danger said. “But beyond that, the fact that they allow us the time to do these climbs is amazing. Not too many companies would give their employees the freedom to do that.”
Through corporate sponsors and individual donations — supporters can pledge to donate a certain amount for each foot the team climbs — the initiative, called More Than Just Mountains, aims to raise $1 million for those affected by cystic fibrosis.
MTJMe plans to use the funds donated by Newbridge to continue producing MTJMe TV, a series of webisodes showcasing uplifting stories involving the foundation and the people and causes it supports. Upcoming episodes will highlight the group’s Mt. Kilimanjaro climb and their meeting with children in an orphanage in Tanzania afterward.
