L.L.Bean launches first student ambassador program, managed by Newbridge
September 27, 2017 – This Fall and throughout the school year, students at 17 colleges and universities will share their joy of the outdoors with friends and classmates as part of L.L.Bean’s first-ever student ambassador program. The initiative, which will support L.L.Bean’s new “Be an Outsider” brand campaign, is managed by Newbridge Marketing Group.
Throughout the academic year, these 30 student ambassadors will partner with relevant student organizations to drive brand awareness, develop authentic college centric content for social distribution, set up activities at campus events where they’ll offer L.L.Bean prizes and coupons, support other L.L.Bean college marketing programs, develop a final program SWOT analysis specific to L.L.Bean marketing activities targeting college students, and of course show off the latest and greatest L.L.Bean products to peers.
The ambassadors were selected from more than 175 candidates who completed in-depth online applications and phone interviews. Those who made the cut were chosen because of their love for spending time outdoors and their ability to bring the L.L.Bean brand to life in a personal, authentic, and fun way.
“We’re incredibly excited about these L.L.Bean college student ambassadors and the passion they have for the brand and the ‘Be an Outsider,’ campaign” said Gabe DiGristina, Newbridge’s vice president, brand partnerships. “Many of them grew up with L.L.Bean in their lives, so their connection to the brand is genuine and goes deeper than simply wearing L.L.Bean clothes or using the company’s gear. This program marks an evolving and growing commitment by L.L.Bean to engaging their next generation of customers in really smart and strategic ways.”
The L.L.Bean ambassadors’ academic interests are varied, ranging from aerospace engineering and global health to marketing and fashion. And their extracurricular activities have a diverse flavor as well — from competitive sports to student government, and from music ensembles to mentorship programs.
The colleges and universities span 12 states. They are: Boston College, University of Colorado Boulder, University of Connecticut, Cornell University, Dartmouth College, Dickinson College, University of Massachusetts at Amherst, University of Michigan, University of New Hampshire, Ohio State University, Penn State University, University of Rhode Island, Princeton University, Rutgers University, Syracuse University, University of Virginia, and University of Wisconsin.
